The importance of English is difficult to dispute. This is a universal language of communication with the whole world. In many countries, it is owned by the vast majority of the population, and at a very good level. However, not everywhere. Why is that? You will find the answer in this small review.

We will take several States as an example and touch on the main points related to learning English.

Those who have visited this country know that Germans easily switch to English if the situation requires it. So, if you ask, for example, the road in English, you will easily be answered. This confirms that the people of Germany are fluent in this language.

In classes in German schools, a very effective principle works — communication is conducted only in English. In addition, many tasks are done by students themselves, and the teacher only controls the process and directs them. The classes have a lot of oral practice, story dialogues, discussions of films and books, and dramatizations of everyday scenes - pay for essay online.

Spaniards pay a lot of attention to English, despite a deep love for their own language. In Spanish schools, some of the subjects are taught in English. As a rule, these are secondary disciplines: labor training, study of the surrounding world, etc.

Most of the population of this country (about 90-95%) speaks English almost at the level of native speakers. Why is that? First, in Sweden, most movies, TV series, cartoons and TV shows are shown in the original voice acting with subtitles in Swedish. Children hear English from an early age and quickly get used to it. Secondly, schools pay a lot of attention to practical tasks. Teachers give students exciting tasks in a foreign language. Third, Swedish and English belong to the same language group, along with Danish and Norwegian. This makes the learning process easier.

English is taught in Finland from about the third grade. However, there is no rote grammar here. Children communicate in English using learned words. This is how the material is processed. In addition, there are many representative offices of international companies in the country, where knowledge of English is a prerequisite for building a successful career.  As in Sweden, in Finland, English-language films and TV series are broadcast in the original. This is why Finns have been learning to speak since childhood.

In General, few people in Japan speak English well. Although the language is taught for six years in schools, and in large cities, many signs have English translation and trains announce stations in English. In Japanese schools, teaching is not very effective. There is a lot of theory, but not enough practice. Another reason for difficulties with English is the large differences between English and Japanese. These are so different languages that it is not easy for Japanese to change their language. Adults consciously start to improve their language because of their career aspirations. They actively use mobile apps and online programs.

In China, English is taught from an early age - from the age of two. However, the emphasis in training is not on learning the rules and words, but on working them out. Classes in language schools are not cheap. As a rule, Chinese people learn English for the sake of status, because most people do not need it in everyday life. In Hong Kong, English is doing very well. Since this is a former British colony, English is the official language of communication here. In China, people love various apps for learning English, as well as live Skype communication with foreigners.
